At Chicago-based PortionPac, plenty of siblings work side by side, and parents often have their adult children as colleagues.
Management at the cleaning-fluids manufacturer makes sure those family members have plenty of time to spend with the ones who don?t work there.
In fact, the organization?s 84 em??ployees are allowed to flex their schedules around family obligations, and the company even changed the start and end times of its day shift?at the employees? request?so workers could clock out by 3:30 p.m. and spend more time with their kids.
The company runs only two shifts instead of three so parents won?t have to be away from home overnight. The owners even had their factory?s machines designed to run as quietly as possible so family members, friends and long-time colleagues who work alongside each other can carry on conversations as they do their tasks.
